Despite of acknowledging the imminent danger of exposure to arsenic, people continue consuming arsenic contaminated water – but for how long?

Neglected by religious and social systems for centuries, the new Nyerma nunnery is their last call for dignity, enhancement and purification of their religious status.

Synopsis: Becoming Salma explores the life and work of Rokaiyya Malik (pen name Salma) who negotiates subversive expression within the tightly circumscribed space alloted to a woman in the small town of Thuvarankurichi in Tamil Nadu. She is able to defy and transcend family proscriptions on writing to become a significant poetic voice questioning patriarchal mores in a powerful yet gentle way. Her empowerment is enhanced as she stands for elections and becomes the Panchayat (local council) President.

The story tries to sketch the rythm and life pattern of a Kuki community that survives by felling bamboos in a period when history becomes ruthless.
