Basel Ramsis is a young Egyptian director and trainer in audiovisual creation. His experience has been demostrated in his films and in several workshops and seminars he has organized with the support of the School of Cinema in Madrid, the Spanish Embassy in Cairo and the Spanish Agency for Cooperation among other institutions.

Synopsis: Marajeeh is a documentary about Palestinian women from both shores of the truce line. It is a production containing stories of women related to the Israeli occupation and to the gender and violence problems that those women face in different cities and villages in Palestine. This documentary was created in summer 2006 in places such as Gaza, refugee camps, Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Nablus, Jerucó, Hebron and on the other side of the truce, in cities such as Kuffer Kassem, Haifa and the Neguev desert.

Synopsis: “El otro lado... un acercamiento a Lavapiés / The other side...An approach to Lavapies” is a documentary that tries to be near the different groups of immigrants living in the Madrid quarter of Lavapies. The district is an excuse to try to see the immigrant-s groups when they are close, as regards the space, to other razes. How the space works, in this case, what is its future or to where is going. Through the personals testimonies, its observation and its activities, the documentary tries to promote more questions and doubts about the crossbreeding, about how the ghettos work, why are they formed, and discusses subjects like racism, repulse, the immigrants fights, the existing conflicts, the Law of foreigners, and the policies of the Spanish State and the European Union about immigration.
