Description:

Maria Laura Gagliesi was born in Cordoba, Argentina, and studied Audio-visual Communication at the University Blas Pascal. She has been working at documentaries and her first work was " Urquiza 193 " from 2003. " In 2004 I did 'Cartography', my last documentary, where I included animation, a fantastic possibility which allowed me to combine my passion for the cinema and other arts. " In 2005 she moved to Buenos Aires, where she begun Cinema Direction studies at the University of Cinema. This was the path to create her short film "Vertical". At present she is shutting "Deriva". Laura is an expert in stop motion in her opinion, "the problem with animation is the inexistence for funding, since the national institute of cinema favours the fiction and the documentary and national funds of plastic arts do not include animation either, but we hope that this will change".
